Get coaching from two pros in a variety of skills ranging from vocal technique tips to style tips to connecting with the audience and emotionally living the song. Improve stage presence and become more expressive to make the lyrics and intention clear. Daria is a jazz/pop stylist and vocal technique teacher. Lua approaches the song through the lens of the theatre and cabaret artist. Together, we coach our students in a small group supportive environment. Everyone grows every time.
Performance Skills Class Series:
4 Tuesday evening classes, the last of which will be an informal performance/recital, to which each participant is invited to bring 1-2 guests.
During the 3 prep classes, participants will work on 4 songs. Each week you’ll get valuable feedback and take your performance chops, technique and style to a new level. Please bring 2 songs to each class, with 2-3 copies of lyrics for each song (no handwritten lyrics please), bring instrument if you play, lead sheets or charts. Please bring your music taped together or in a binder.
For the final class, each singer will perform 2 songs. This informal concert will be followed by a little reception with students and guests.
There will be a live pianist available for each session and the final performance. Participants may also self-accompany or use backup tracks, as desired.
Class Size limit – 6
Tuesday nights, from 6:30pm to 9:00pm
April 21 Final performance – bring a friend or two, and some noshes to share.

DARIA is an acclaimed vocalist, recording artist, songwriter and educator. Her latest CD, “Strawberry Fields Forever, Songs by the Beatles” is on award winning Origin/OA2 Records. She toured internationally with the legendary Dan Hicks and the Hot Licks for 10 years. Daria has shared the stage and recorded with such luminaries as Dan Hicks, Bob Dorough, George Benson, Elvis Costello, Diana Krall, Joe Sample, Christian McBride, Lewis Nash, Maria Muldaur, Ricki Lee Jones, Wayne Wallace, Abe Laboriel, Marcos Silva and Alex Acuna. Daria teaches workshops, classes and private lessons at her studio in Novato, CA. She has taught at the California Jazz Conservatory, Piedmont Piano, College of Marin, Blue Bear School of American Music and other locations.
